How does auto mode choose?
It looks at the file's format: JPEGs and WebPs get a quality slider (same dimensions, smaller file), PNGs get a scale slider (because PNG is lossless, shrinking dimensions is what actually works), and anything else — like GIF or BMP — is converted to WebP, the smallest widely supported format.
What are the best settings?
For JPEG/WebP, quality 80 is the sweet spot for photos — near-identical to the original. For PNG, scale 85% looks the same on screen while cutting a real chunk of bytes. If the result isn't small enough, run the downloaded file through again.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — your file is never sent to any server.
