FAQs
What is JFIF?
JFIF is a file container for JPEG-compressed images. It uses the same compression as JPG — browsers and this tool read it as JPEG, it just wears a different file extension.
Why do my camera or scanner files come as JFIF?
Some cameras, scanners, and older software save JPEG data with the .jfif extension by default. Converting to PNG gives you a file that every modern app recognizes.
Will the PNG be bigger than the JFIF?
Usually, yes — PNG is lossless, so it needs more bytes to store the same picture without compression damage.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — your file is never sent to any server.
